Chardonee Hamba Kahle of Saxony HD00 ED00 Apt CGC

22/06/99 - 19/09/04

Hamba died tragically only eight hours after having her third litter of puppies. Her loss has left a deep void.

Hamba's antics and Oscar worthy acting skills kept us in stitches on many occasions.

Sleep tight "Fatty Bum" - we miss you.

Pedigree

Hamba was a lovely example of a feminine, yet substantial Dane bitch. Her temperament was outstanding and she was without doubt the children's favourite. Hamba passed her Therapy Dog assessment with flying colours and made my heart swell with pride.

She also starred in a number of television and print adverts and constantly amazed me with her patience during the tiring shoots.

Hamba's show-marked littermates have done very well in the showring with Chardonee Hamanaptra taking BPIS at the SAGDA 2000 Ch show and Ch Chardonee Highly Polished being awarded the CC and RBIS at the SAGDA 2001 Ch show.

A first for SA Great Danes

On January 26th 2002, Hamba made SA history by becoming the first ever Agility Great Dane!

Thanks to a handler error, Hamba was eliminated. Had her stupid handler (no names mentioned) not made such a silly mistake Hamba would have placed 3rd on her first outing!

This sport suited her outgoing, courageous and clown temperament to a tee and she really enjoyed herself. When Hamba ran an agility course it was a joy to watch.

Unfortunately her sense of humour often left me wishing the earth would swallow me up! At one of the biggest shows on the calendar Hamba stopped in the middle of her run (which was going brilliantly up until then) and trotted over to the judge for a cuddle!

The more the crowd laughed, the more Hamba would act. In her short agility career she became quite well known for her antics - I miss those silly and fun times so much.

See the Information Page for more on training Great Danes to do agility.

Hamba ran her agility "swansong" in a blistering time with 5 faults. I still curse that silly pole for falling down - if it weren't for that, Hamba would have retired with a first place and a qualification.

Canine Good Citizen

Hamba did me very proud by passing all 13 parts of this test on her first attempt.

This part of the test is the out of sight down-stay.
