•Sire : Ch Chardonee Galileo of Saxony HD00 YDT Apt Exl CGC•Dam : Chapala Sangoma of Micnic HD00•Bred by : Isabelle Leuenberger, Micnic Great Danes, Johannesburg, South AfricaBala was a dream combination of Zinzan's German substance and the elegance of the top quality Chapala lines. Bala showed outstanding movement, with an economical action that she could keep up for days on end, and a lovely balance of form.Bala fared well in the ring and was a consistent class winner. Four of her five RCC's were as second place to the two times winner of the SA Dane of the Year award. There's no shame to be had in standing second to such an illustrious bitch. Bala took some time off to attend to parental duties in March 2003 and we effectively restricted her 2003 outings to a total of 4 events. Even so she finished the year as the second rated harlequin bitch in SA. •2001 FCI Ch Show Best Puppy & Graded Very Promising•2002 SAGDA Open Show Best Puppy in Show•2002 N TVL KC Ch Show RCC•2002 W&H Golden Reef Open Show BOB•2002 W TVL Ch Show RCC•2002 SAGDA Ch Show RCC•2002 W&H Cape Ch Show RCC•2002 Vereeniging KC Ch Show RCC•2003 Pietermaritzburg KC Ch Show CC & RBOB - under international specialist Ilona Onstenk-Schenk (Holland)•2003 SALKA Ch Show RCC - under international specialist Karina La Mare (UK)•2004 SAGDA Ch Show 2nd Open Bitches - under international specialist Lawrence Morgan-Evans (UK)Bala had the distinction of scoring the second highest score for Great Danes in the working breeds aptitude test. She was an excellent obedience dog and did not let much distract her from the task at hand. She gained her second CGC qualification at the WODAC event. Bala was the dam of the Saxony 2002 C Litter (11 pups) and the Saxony 2005 F Litter (9 pups). We kept a puppy from the F Litter (Saxony Ferris Bueller) who was shown at a later stage to have acquired her sire’s heart condition, although fortunately in a much less severe form. Ferris was never bred from as a result. Our special Bala girl died tragically before her time due to surgery complications. We miss Bala's sedate presence terribly.
