I had never been so totally besotted with a dog before and Ed knew this. I am so very grateful for the 11.5 years we had with Ed. Ed was always an outgoing confident madam, with a definite eye for mischief. As Ed has matured she became more ladylike, but even in her golden years “Granny Dog” still got up to tricks, including trying to murder the cat and the duck. She fared incredibly well in the showring and had a "look at me" attitude that was hard not to notice. She really enjoyed her outings and even as an old girl she would get excited when she saw me prepping for a show. She was ready to jump into the car at any given time. During her puppy career, Ed was never defeated in the classes and her puppy results include: • 2005 KUSA FCI Show - 1 Junior Bitches, Graded Excellent*, CACIB* & Res. Best of Breed & 4th Puppy Group • 2005 Durban & Districts KC Ch Show - 1st Puppy Bitches • 2005 SAGDA Ch Show - 1st Puppy Bitches • 2005 Working & Herding Ch Show - Best Puppy & 2nd Puppy Group • 2005 Wits KC Ch - Best Puppy • 2005 TVL Midlands KC Ch - Best Puppy • 2005 Roodepoort & Districts KC Ch - Best Puppy • 2004 SAGDA Open Show - Best Puppy In Show, Best Harlequin Colour, Best Harlequin Conformation, Best Expression • 2004 Western Gauteng Open Show - Reserve Best of Breed, Best Puppy, 5th Puppy Group Ed was the top harlequin in South Africa for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons. Her best result to date was at the FCI International Show where Ed won the Group and then 4th Best in Show! What made this win more special was that Ed's daughter won the Puppy Group and then Best Puppy In Show at the same show. Ed was a wonderful dam and also acted as a surrogate mother to three orphaned blue Great Dane pups from another breeder after having more than enough capacity with her surprise 2007 singleton litter. Seeing the orphan pup herself care for orphaned pups was truly special! She was truly a girl in a million and while I am heartsore that she has passed on, I still smile a lot remembering her silly ways and the fun we had together.
