Reno was a dream come true. I had long admired his sire and grandsire Am Ch BMW Architect of Jericho and could
not believe that I would have such a special dog - my eternal thanks to Kati & Piia for the opportunity to own such
an incredible dog. Thank you for your trust and kindness. It will never be forgotten.
Reno slotted in beautifully and was a wonderfully confident and attentive dog. The change in environment from
Europe in winter to Africa in summer was considerable, but nobody told Reno! He took to everything with no
problems and has amazed me with his adaptability and relaxed attitude.
He was a very friendly chap and his obedience was exemplary. People often commented on his good manners
and attentiveness. After each show I allowed Reno to run off lead and his recall was amazing despite all the
distractions. He often came back to me so fast that I had to jump out of the way.
Reno only ever sired one litter (Saxont H Litter), which only comprised one puppy. Reno was used on a number of
bitches and testing revealed an unforeseen fertility issue. Fortunately, the one pup Reno sired was a magnificent
harlequin male, Saxony Hi Lan Der (Mac). We also have a Reno granddaughter, Shorty, and also have frozen
semen from Reno’s son, Mac, so Reno’s many attributes are still available.
Reno was the first mantle to be shown in South Africa and was thus shown sparingly. He notched up some nice
wins, including:
•
Res. Best of Breed & CACIB - M Duarte (Brazil)
•
Res. Challenge Certificate - S Carter (RSA)
•
Res. Challenge Certificate - K Humphries (UK) - Dane Specialist.
This sweet dear boy is very missed and we thank Marinda and Herman who played an important role in Reno’s
later years.
